स ह व्याधिनानशितुं दध्रे तमाचार्यजायोवाच ब्रह्मचारिन्नशान किं नु नाश्नासीति स होवाच बहव इमेऽस्मिन्पुरुषे कामा नानात्यया व्याधीभिः प्रतिपूर्णोऽस्मि नाशिष्यामीति ॥ ४.१०.३ ॥
sa ha vyādhinānaśituṃ dadhre tamācāryajāyovāca brahmacārinnaśāna kiṃ nu nāśnāsīti sa hovāca bahava ime’sminpuruṣe kāmā nānātyayā vyādhībhiḥ pratipūrṇo’smi nāśiṣyāmīti || 4.10.3 ||
3. Upakosala was upset and started fasting. His teacher’s wife said to him: ‘Brahmacārin, eat something. Why are you not eating?’ Upakosala said: ‘There are too many desires in me and they are pulling me in different directions. I am like one suffering from many ailments. I don’t want to eat’.
