स एतां त्रयीं विद्यामभ्यतपत्तस्यास्तप्यमानाया रसान्प्रावृहद्भूरित्यृग्भ्यो भुवरिति यजुर्भ्यः स्वरिति सामभ्यः ॥ ४.१७.३ ॥
sa etāṃ trayīṃ vidyāmabhyatapattasyāstapyamānāyā rasānprāvṛhadbhūrityṛgbhyo bhuvariti yajurbhyaḥ svariti sāmabhyaḥ || 4.17.3 ||
3. Then Prajāpati worshipped these three Vedas. And from those Vedas that were worshipped he extracted the essence. From the Ṛg Veda he got ‘bhūḥ,’ from the Yajur Veda he got ‘bhuvaḥ,’ and from the Sāma Veda he got ‘svaḥ’.
