During his [Swami Trigunatitananda’s] sadhana at the Baranagore Monastery, he had a great desire to perform some tantric rituals at midnight in the cremation ground. He knew that Swami Vivekananda would’ t give him permission to do this, so one night while others slept, Swami Trigunatita silently prepared to go to the cremation ground. To his utter astonishment and disappointment, he heard Swami Vivekananda calling out, ‘Where are you going?’ Swami Trigunatita stood speechless. Swami Vivekananda went on to say: ‘Sri Ramakrishna appeared to me in my sleep and told me where you were going. He said that you should not go, that he has done all these things for us, and that it is quite sufficient for us to keep our minds fixed on him.’ Of course, this was the end of his attempt to practice tantric sadhana.
