In the year 1935, Kali puja was being celebrated at a devotee’s residence named Vishwanatha Mukhopadhyaya. Swami Vijnanananda attended the puja along with other monks of the Order and made it special. Swami Vasudevananda was officiating as the priest. Swami Vijnanananda prayed to the goddess with devotion at the beginning of the puja. Then he went into a room and locked himself up. The devotees present were disappointed at his absence during the puja.
Next morning Swami suddenly came to the puja hall. After offering his prayers to Mother Kali, he enthusiastically said to the devotees, ‘Friends, do you know that yesterday during the puja Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and Swami Shivananda made their appearance here? Swamiji also sang songs in his melodious voice.’
